I am addicted to espadrilles (and I don't have a cure for it)
Every summer it's the same story. Our favourite shoes come back and we wonder how we spent winter without them. It's espadrilles season and I can't contain myself. I have and will always be addicted to them. In France, espadrilles are a must in summer time. All women own at least one pair (I own more than one).
But this year I feel the trend is going further with a large variety of flat espadrilles overshadowing the famous wedges. Until this year, I thought the flat and basic design was not flattering , but this is a new era so let's have fun with our espadrilles.
If you opt for the flat versions, there is no limit to what you can pair them with. You want to wear a pair of shorts? Do it. If you prefer a dress? Go ahead! And if trousers are more of your thing, that works as well. Just keep in mind that espadrilles will always bring a casual vibe to your look, and you will never look too formal with them.
The trend this year is to pair them with a pair of cropped jeans, stylish look guaranteed.
For the petite frames or less thin legs, opt for a pair which will not cover your foot until the ankle, opt for the wedges if possible.
High heel espadrilles will always flatter your silhouette, if you have wide feet (like me) make sure you choose a model that fits your foot shape (comfort remains essential!).
My favourites this year are the flat ones with funny and fancy designs. In London, they are everywhere, and much easy to find than the classic wedge ones. And you can wear them with all your casual outfits.
Final point, if you wear your espadrilles every day, they will be worn out by the end of summer. The materials are less resistant than leather, but the goods news is that you will always find some affordable ones for next year.
